Vermont Recovery Coach Academy
The Vermont Recovery Coach Academy (VT RCA) is a 5-day, 30-hour, highly interactive and personal experience that allows participants to learn the purpose, tasks and various roles of a recovery coach. The Academy provides participants with tools and resources vital to providing recovery support services and develops the skills needed to link persons in recovery to the services and supports that will maintain and sustain recovery (from addictions as well as mental health conditions).
A recovery coach is a peer, in personal or family recovery, and can serve in a coaching role in a variety of settings and capacities: recovery centers, treatment centers/ facilities/ outpatient programs, drop-in centers, agencies, Good Samaritan havens/ food shelves/ housing programs, transitional/ half-way houses, youth service bureaus/ programs, churches, etc., etc. We have trained over 300 recovery coaches since our program began in 2010, from various parts of New England- as well as Virginia, New York, California, Kentucky, Florida and Wyoming.

“I came to the RCA excited, but unsure of what the week was going to look like. I have had one of the most amazing experiences of knowledge, love, resources, self-discovery and excitement. I has given me a deeper sense of how important that a combination of service, love and hope is what all keeps us moving forward-together. I have learned many, many tools on how to understand and embrace more people. I love all the exercises and the evening laughing with the other coaches. The things I have learned are countless and the awareness of my own belief system has forced me to grow. I know this program will grow and branch out on both a national and international level. I am so grateful to be on the ground floor. This what I take away, words cannot describe. Hannah Rose, October 15, 2010 RCA Graduate.”
